Oh Where Did Thou H2O Went?

From this yahoo foods article on popular summer drinks:

  • Krispy Kreme Mocha Dream Chiller = 670 Calories, 28g Fat
  • Dairy Queen Peanut Butter Malt = 870 Calories, 46g Fat
  • Starbucks Double Chocolate Chip Frap Blended Creme = 580 Calories, 22g Fat
  • Dunkin’ Donuts Vanilla Bean Coolatta = 440 Calories, 17g Fat

My question is, what ever happened to good ol’ H2O.  This is why Ameria’s has an obesity problem.

5 Course Exquisite

Yesterday, I had the delightful experience at dining at Sarah K’s place where she had prepared a 5-course meal for a few of us. In my honest opinion, this was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Some pricey restaurant I’ve been to wouldn’t even come close to the attention, taste, and presentation that was put into these 5 dishes. Sarah will be a great chef one day. So now I present to you the master chef and the menu of the night:

Pretzel Snack Time

Here’s what I’m eating when I need a quick snack. Great stuff from Snyders of Hanover:

  • Organic Pumpernickel & Onion Sticks
  • Organic Honey Wheat Sticks
  • Jalepeno Pretzel Pieces
  • Jalepeno Cheddar Sandwiches

Mr. Sushi

Mr. Sushi in Arlington Center (Map)

I had a chance to dine at Mr. Sushi in the heart of Arlington this past Friday with a couple of friends.  From the menu, I ordered the Seafood Udon Noodles, along with a few types of sushi roll.  My friend made a great suggestion to the waitress on adding tempura flakes to the sushi rolls.  While the sushi itself wasn’t distinguishable from any other places, the Udon Bowl was spectacular.  The noodle texture can be described as perfection, slightly chewy and tasteful.  The soup base was tasteful and simply amazing.

Salmon & Crackers

This is a quick and healthy snack, great for partially filling your stomach before dinner time. Get some Trader Joes Alaskan Pink Salmon, and spread it over a cracker for a quick treat. I used whole grains crackers, which is probably also from Trader Joes.

Kashi Autumn Wheat

Autumn WheatMan, this stuff is good, healthy, and simple. And if you know me, all those things combined into one is definitely worthy! Only three ingredients on the list: Organic Whole Grain Wheat, Organic Evaporated Cane Juice, Natural Flavor.

In this case, less is definitely more.

Sam Adams Black Lager

This stuff is good. I picked up a Sam Adams Brewmaster’s Collection today and had one of the Black Lagers, it was awesome. As described on the packaging:

Smooth and malty with a deep roast character and dry finish.

Well said Sam, well said!

Limeade!

Looking for an alternative to the standard lemonade? Well, Santa Cruz Organic Limeade is the answer. This not-too-sweet, all natural juice refreshment is perfect for the summer months. I love it.

Fire Dragon Fruit 火龍果

Dragon FruitFrom my recent trip back to Hong Kong, my birthplace, I had the luxury of eating these tasty treats called 火龍果. A direct translation is Fire Dragon Fruit, or more simply Dragon Fruit.

First thing in the morning after waking up, I would slice open once of these babies in two halves, take a spoon, scoop out the flesh, and savor the mildly-sweet, kiwi-like texture. Yup, just eat them like a dessert bowl! Another amazing part is that the seeds look like black sesame seeds.

I have never seen or eaten these while being in the U.S., never seen them in the grocery stores neither. Although Trader Joe’s did offer dried version of this fruit during the winter months of 2005.
